Separate gospel concerts feature Peck, Parker, Mote

Three nationally touring gospel acts, all with Gaither Homecoming credentials, will make appearances in the area this weekend.

* Karen Peck & New River: Besides four Grammy nominations and four Dove Awards for the group, Peck has been recognized multiple times for her soprano vocals. They'll sing Friday, Jan. 20, at Rainsville Holiness Church on Trinity Lane in Rainsville, Ala. Doors open at 6 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m. with New Ground (all times Central). * Ivan Parker: The former lead singer for the Dove Award-winning group Gold City, Parker has been a solo artist since 1994. He was voted favorite soloist at the 2016 Singing News Fan Awards. * Gordon Mote: The award-winning pianist, blind since birth, will perform at 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 22, at Trion First Baptist Church, 95 Church St. in Trion, Ga. His most release, "Hymns and Songs of Inspiration," follows his Dove Award-nominated project, "All Things New." The new album includes vocals by the Chicago Mass Choir and Voices of Lee.
