More than eight hours of fun and fireworks are planned on Saturday, June 24, when Rainsville, Ala., celebrates its annual Freedom Fest.

The fun starts at 1 p.m CDT in Rainsville City Park, and admission is free.

In addition to the expected crafts and food vendors, there will be pony rides, inflatables from 2 to 7 p.m., and free swimming at the city pool from 1 to 5 p.m.

Inside Tom Bevill Enrichment Center, a team from HOPE Puppet Ministries will perform at 3 and 5 p.m. Ventriloquist/magician Cliff Patton will perform at 2 and 4 p.m.

The Freedom Fest Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show begins registration at 3 p.m. Festivalgoers are invited to check out the entries between 3:30 and 6 p.m. before awards are presented at 6:45 p.m.

Nine musical acts are scheduled beginning at 1 p.m. before headliner Exile takes the stage at 7 p.m. Exile, the pop/rock and country crossover band, has been playing together since 1963. Their 17 albums have spawned 12 No. 1 singles, most notably 1978's "Kiss You All Over."

At approximately 8:30 p.m., Freedom Fest will close with a fireworks show over City Park. The fireworks display is sponsored by the city of Rainsville and Farmers Telecommunications Cooperative.
