The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Masterchorale will present its annual summer concert on Saturday night, June 24, at Second Presbyterian Church.

The Masterchorale was formed in 2004 to provide a summer performing ensemble for graduate and undergraduate students and community singers, as well as a workshop chorus for graduate conducting students.

Singers learn concert literature during six weeks of rehearsals.

Saturday night, the Masterchorale will share the concert with a reunion of alumni of the UTC Chamber Singers.

The Masterchorale's portion of the concert will feature a program of all Latin American music, including "Malaguena" and "Te Quiero."

They will perform the "Misa Criolla" by Ariel Rameriz, which sets the movements from a mass to various indigenous dance styles from South America.

The mass will feature Gary Scheufler, Harv Wileman and Zach Cavan as soloists, and will be accompanied by Johan Sentana on piano and harpsichord, Alan Shikoh on the charango and Monte Coulter, Monte Coulter IV and Matt Broome on percussion.

The mass will be followed by four works from South America and Puerto Rico. Husband and wife soloists, Zach Cavan and Alex Bryant, will be featured in this section.

The concert will conclude with a reunion performance by former members of the UTC Chamber Singers, who will sing some of their favorite choral compositions from the last 13 years.

The singers will be conducted by Kevin Ford and Roland Carter, both of whom they performed under while at UTC.

They will be accompanied by Mark Laseter.

The concert is free and open to the public but a collection will be taken to benefit choral music scholarships at UTC.
