Genre-crossing Gary Morris sings at The Palace Theatre in Crossville

The man whose distinctive voice has successfully spanned country, opera and Broadway genres is in concert tonight, March 16, at The Palace Theatre, 72 S. Main St., Crossville, Tenn.

Singer/actor Gary Morris has recorded 12 albums from which he notched more than 25 singles on Billboard's country charts. He won the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music's Song of the Year awards in 1984 for "Wind Beneath My Wings."

At the height of his Nashville recording career, the Texas-bred tenor was offered the role of Rodolfo, starring opposite Linda Ronstadt, in the Broadway production of Puccini's opera, "La Bohème." Then he moved on to Broadway, cast as Jean Valjean in "Les Miserables," having only three weeks to learn the challenging role. His performance received a Drama Desk Best Actor nomination.
