Julie Dexter, the singer whose single, "Ketch a Vibe," was featured in national radio ads for Barack Obama when he was the Democratic presidential candidate, will headline tonight's Levitt Amp Concert at the Bessie Smith Cultural Center, 200 E. M.L. King Blvd., at 7 p.m.

A performance by the cast of "The Wiz," now showing at the Chattanooga Theatre Centre, will open the free show.

Dexter is a world-renowned, award-winning, British singer-songwriter who has headlined shows as well as shared the stage with Mint Condition, Caron Wheeler, Jill Scott, Lalah Hathaway, Omar, Ledisi, Third World and Maxi Priest, to name a few. Her music spans jazz, broken-beat, reggae, Afro-beat and soul. She was honored at the Black Women in Jazz Awards with the Afro Caribbean Soul of Jazz Award.

In 1999, she moved to Atlanta, where she launched her own label, Ketch a Vibe Records. Her seventh, and newest, album, "Under the Covers," expected out near the end of this year, was funded with Kickstarter.
