Two bands formed at Middle Tennessee universities will take the stage at The Signal, 1810 Chestnut St., this weekend.

Indie electronic duo Cherub plays Thursday, Sept. 20, at 8:30 p.m. as part of their Free Form Tour.

They had their first hit in 2013 with "Doses & Mimosas," which charted at No. 43 on Billboard's Rock Airplay and No. 23 on Alternative Songs charts. It also led to a contract with Columbia Records.

Cherub has played Lollapalooza, Bonnaroo, Glastonbury, Outside Lands, Osheaga and Summer Sonic festivals. They've had a record go gold, and have gotten 130 million streams on Spotify.

Cherub's fans can expect to hear new single "Want That" Thursday along with "Body Language," "Dancin' Shoes" and "All In."

Moon Taxi stops in The Signal on Saturday, Sept. 22, on its Good as Gold Tour. Show time is 8:30 p.m.

Moon Taxi formed at Belmont University in Nashville. They first played backup for a rap duo before booking gigs under the name Moon Taxi.

The band has had five studio albums, appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman," "Late Night with Seth Myers" and "Jimmy Kimmel Live."

Moon Taxi kicked off 2018 with the release of album "Let the Record Play." Anyone not familiar with Moon Taxi's music will still recognize the album's smash single "Two High," featured in the Jeep Compass commercial "Snow."

Moon Taxi vocalist Trevor Terndrop told Relix magazine that the song is about hope.

"Hope for understanding, hope for acceptance and hope for our future. We were inspired by the simple and universal peace sign."

Tickets for Cherub are $15-$40. Tickets for Moon Taxi, with opener Luthi, are $27-$30.

Two High lyrics

When you feel the world around youSpinnin’ out of controlYou can find someone around youTo bring you out of the coldBut you don’t ever have to hideWhat you really feel inside[Chorus]So put ‘em upTwo highWe can walk together with our hands up in the skySo put ‘em upTonightWe can come togetherWe won’t give up on the fight
