Victor Serene, one of the co-founders of Velocity of Sound, is celebrating his "27th birthday for the 16th consecutive year."

To mark the occasion, Velocity of Sound is hosting Habitat for House, an electronic dance party for ages 21 and up on Saturday, March 16, at 10 p.m. at Music Box at Ziggy's, 607 Cherokee Blvd.

Serene isn't asking for gifts for himself, he wants guests to make a donation to Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland, Tennessee. Admission is free to the dance party, but everyone will be expected to make a donation, in the amount of their choice, to the nonprofit. The host will have a direct electronic donation link set up to Habitat to make it easy to donate; or, guests may bring a money order made out to Habitat for Humanity of Cleveland.

Velocity of Sound is Chattanooga's oldest electronic music outlet, formed in 1996 by Johnny Z, Dorian and Serene.

Guests at Saturday's benefit can dance into the early morning hours of Sunday to a tag-team set by those three partners. Also featured: Kevin Nowell with Art of House in Knoxville.

Music will consist of the best house-based genres like deep house, tech house, trance, techno, progressive house and melodic techno.
