The Pizza Hut restaurant in LaFayette, Ga., is helping Chattooga Academy, Georgia's oldest remaining brick schoolhouse, build a brick sign one pizza at a time Tuesday.

The plan by the Chattooga Academy Advisory Board is to build a brick sign similar to the one at neighboring Joe Stock Memorial Park (though not as tall).

The pizza fundraiser will help pay for construction and materials.

To support the project, a customer turns in a designated ticket, printed out from www.cityoflafayettega.org, when paying the check, and 20 percent of the sale will be donated for the sign (some restrictions apply). If less than $499 is spent in the restaurant that day, the total donated would be 10 percent of the sale.

Vouchers also may be used at Pizza Hut locations in Chickamauga, Fort Oglethorpe and Ringgold, Ga. Vouchers are good for dine-in, delivery and takeout.

A similar fundraiser at the LaFayette location in September netted $110. Organizers hope to raise $500 by working with the additional locations. Materials for the sign will cost more than $3,500. About $1,800 has been raised or pledged to date.
