The Tennessee Valley Railroad begins Railfest, its 50th anniversary celebration, Thursday with a banquet featuring Railroad Age's Railroader of the Year.
The honoree, Charles W. "Wick" Moorman, is the chairman, president and CEO of Norfolk Southern. The banquet begins at 6:45 p.m. at the Chattanooga Choo Choo, 1400 Market St. A reception with cash bar starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are $35.
Reservations are being accepted for a night photo session Sept. 2 at the East Chattanooga Station. Tickets are $25. Participation is limited to 100.
Other events include rail excursions (which include Railfest admission), interactive displays, Civil War re-enactments and a concert by newgrass mandolin master Sam Bush.
