Black Ink contestants perform Saturday

Black Ink, an interactive poetry contest focusing on African-American history, will take place Saturday in the EPB Community Room, 10 W. M.L. King Blvd. The Chattanooga Hamilton County NAACP is sponsoring the event.

Participants will perform their poems and spoken-word entries between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m. Competitors are asked to arrive by 11:45 a.m.

The works will be read aloud for a chance to win cash and other prizes. Contestants will interact with the judges and audience to elaborate on their motivations. The top three finishers in adult and youth categories will be selected.

Admission is free. Refreshments will be served.
