Ever wanted to be in a book club but didn't have like-minded readers as friends or in your social group?

The Bicentennial Library has something for you.

On Saturday, in the library auditorium, the downtown branch will host an organization session for an adult book club.

"This is an opportunity for [those] who may not have one to come to the library," said community-relations director Andria Davis. "We want to get together and find out who's interested and in what part of town they live. We want it to be convenient for the majority."

Members, she said, can choose where, when and the time they want to meet and determine the type of book they want to read. If they want to get started immediately, the library will offer multiple copies of several books from which to choose. However, they may choose any book.

"We want them to be on the same page," Davis said.

Library personnel will be available to answer questions and may be available to help with the club's facilitation if it is held at the library, she said.

Light refreshments also will be served.

Davis said the library hadn't had a book club in several years. The last one, she said, followed the 1996 advent of Oprah Winfrey's book club and lasted for several years.

"We get a lot of calls [about the availability of book clubs]," she said.
