Summer means fee-free day at Point Park

Visitors can enjoy bird's-eye views of the Chattanooga skyline from Lookout Mountain Point Park, off East Brow Road, free of charge on Tuesday. To celebrate the first day of summer, Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will waive the entrance fee (normally $3 for ages 16 and older). Visitors can also join a park ranger at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. for a walk through the park to learn about the battle that took place on the slopes of Lookout Mountain on Nov. 24, 1863. Tours begin inside the entrance gate and will last about 30 minutes. For more information, call the Lookout Mountain Battlefield Visitor Center at 423-821-7786 or the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at 706-866-9241; or visit www.nps.gov/chch.
