Nine local restaurants will vie for the Best Salsa title tonight when Beach Blast is held at The Mill event hall.

The beach party is the annual fundraiser sponsored by CaribbeanSEA/TenneSEA that benefits clean water programs in Tennessee and in the Caribbean. The party features dancing, Caribbean food and drink, live and silent auctions and a limbo contest.

Local restaurants competing for the salsa title are La Altena, Mojo Burrito, Ayala's, Amigo, El Meson, Ruby Tuesday, Taco Mamacita, Conga and Sluggo's. They'll tempt partygoers with salsas ranging from mild to blazing.

CaribbeanSEA/TenneSEA teaches youth to take care of water through camps and educational programs. Funds raised at the Beach Blast will purchase water-testing kits including bacteria-testing supplies, provide transportation to water-testing sites and field trips, support summer camps, provide college scholarships and help fund program staff.

Tickets will be sold at the door. Guests must be 21 or older to attend.
