Chattanooga Market celebrates harvest

The temperature may not reflect it, but fall is around the corner, and the Chattanooga Market is getting a jump on it.

The theme of Sunday's market at the First Tennessee Pavilion is Harvest Festival.

With that, said Chattanooga Market marketing director Melissa Siragusa, comes the beginning of the fall harvest of fruits and vegetables grown by local vendors.

"It's a very casual, simple week," she said. "A lot of our vendors will embrace it."

Market visitors can expect, among other things, apples and squashes, along with apple crepes, apple cider and pumpkin spice coffee cake mix.

They're even likely to find fall-flavored teas, Siragusa said, and wooden harvest bowls.

"You get around [the items brought by vendors]," she said. "It's going to make you feel like fall."

Entertainment will be provided by indie-pop singer/songwriter Kate Klim at 12:30 p.m. and singer/songwriter Doug E. Rees at 2 p.m.

Klim is a Market favorite, according to Siragusa, and, according to her website (www.kateklim.com), the Market is a favorite of hers.

"Love this market -- great vendors, cool space and professional sound," she says on her site. "Come visit."

Rees, according to his website (www.dougrees.net), fuses folk, country, blues and pop influences into his own unique style.
