Salvation Army Christmas campaigns

The Salvation Army will kick off its Christmas campaigns in two locations Saturday, Nov. 9.

* In Cleveland, Tenn., the program will begin at noon at Bradley Square Mall, 200 Paul Huff Parkway.

* In Chattanooga, the campaign will kick off at 2 p.m. at Center Stage on the lower level of Hamilton Place, 2100 Hamilton Place Blvd. Musical guests will be the Chattanooga Girls Choir, Jericho Brass Band and The Dismembered Tennesseans.

In both programs, bell ringers will herald the appearance of the agency's red donation kettles, and Angel Tree adoptions, which provide gifts to the needy, will be available. Gift recipients may be picked from the Angel Tree through Sunday, Dec. 1.

Santa Claus is coming to town - twice this weekend.

* The first sighting will be at a Pajama Party on Friday, Nov. 8, at Northgate Mall in Hixson.

Starting at 6 p.m. in Center Court, families can enjoy sweet treats, entertainment and story time with Santa. Kids 12 and younger who wear their PJs will get a free souvenir pillowcase to take home (while supplies last).

Visits and photos with Santa will be Saturday, Nov. 9, through Christmas Eve in the Sears Court. Photo hours are 10 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-Saturday, with one-hour breaks at 1 and 5 p.m.; noon-6 p.m. Sundays, with a one-hour break at 2:30 p.m.; and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Christmas Eve, with a break at 1 p.m. (break times are subject to change).

Santa Paws pet photos are scheduled 6-9 p.m. on two Tuesdays, Nov. 26 and Dec. 3.

* The jolly old elf will show up at Hamilton Place on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the 15th annual Santa Arrival Parade. The parade will begin at 11 a.m. in the Sears parking lot and will circle the mall, ending near the Food Court entrance, where children can escort Santa to his holiday home for photo opportunities.

The parade will be preceded at 8 a.m. by the second annual Reindeer Dash, a family-friendly 5K that starts at Academy Sports + Outdoors and winds through the 200-acre shopping complex. The YMCA will provide free, on-site child care during the event, along with family activities before and after the run, including a DJ and bounce house. Race registration is $30.
