You know that old expression "Here's mud in your eye"? Sources say it's actually a toast to success, so it seems an absolutely fitting way to wish competitors luck in the fifth annual Chattanooga Mud Run.
This messy 5K race features a military-style obstacle course in which all of the obstacles are completely surrounded by or consist entirely of mud. So yeah, you could have mud in your eye - and everywhere else too.
A benefit for Habitat for Humanity of Greater Chattanooga Area, the run will begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 16, at Greenway Farms, 5051 Gann Store Road in Hixson. Cost is $60 for individuals, $250 for a five-person team, plus a $5 per person registration fee.
Once the first participant crosses the finish line, local blues/rock band Rick Rushing & the Blue Strangers will kick off the Chattanooga Mud Run After-Party. The after-party is free and open to all, not just race participants.
The after-party will feature food and beverages for purchase from Milk & Honey, Lupi's Pizza, Good Dog, Moss's Place, Noodles & Company, Bitler Bistro and Kona Ice.
