And you know that Los Angeles cops' slang "pulling a Rockford" refers to TV private eye James Rockford's signature move of spinning his speeding gold Pontiac Firebird 180 degrees.
My friend, the Chattanooga Market understands you. From 11 a.m. until 4 p.m., it is hosting the Hot Rod Auto Show. Car owners are invited to "bring their A-bone, classic Corvette, grocery getter, Highboy, Woodie or other classics" to the market Sunday, Aug. 31. Market organizers expect about 50 car owners and ask drivers to arrive no later than 10 a.m. at First Tennessee Pavilion. Hot-rod lovers can enhance their chances of meeting fellow buffs by filling out the form at ChattanoogaMarket.org with details about their automotive baby. Registration and admission are free.
There also will be live music from local Jordan Hallquist, who cites Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young and Bo Diddley as influences, and South Carolina guitar slinger Jacob Johnston, known for his musical pyrotechnics.
The owners of uncool cars, bikers, cyclists and pedestrians are also welcome.
