The Chattery, a new nonprofit hoping to stimulate both sides of the brain, will offer its first "right brain" (creative) class on the basics of building a Mason jar terrarium on Wednesday, March 5. Laura Freeman, founder of Planted Pots, will lead the session, which will begin at 6 p.m. at Chattanooga Workspace, 302 W. Sixth St. (across from the Downtown YMCA). The first "left brain" (analytical) class will be a lesson in American Sign Language on Thursday, March 20, at Chattanooga Neighborhood Enterprise. The terrarium class has a $15 fee, which covers all materials except the jar (you'll need to bring one 3-4 inches wide and 5-7 inches tall). The Chattery, operating under the umbrella of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, is set up as a "take a class, teach a class" forum for community collaboration.
