Saddle up for Preschool Adventure Saturday at CDM - Jan. 25

The next Preschool Adventure Saturday at Creative Discovery Museum will let kids saddle up for a "Ride Into the West."

From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Jan. 25, the museum at 321 Chestnut St., will offer multisensory, hands-on activities that incorporate science, music, art and literacy. Activities will include decorating cowboy hats, painting with rope, brushing large stuffed horses, sitting on saddles and making a corral sandwich. A live miniature cow and miniature pony will be present during the event. Teenage rodeo star Hunter Shahan will perform rope tricks, and local musician Dustin Crane will play and sing Western songs during a closing sing-along.

The event will help children "learn concepts of the Old West while developing new vocabulary in a memorable way," says Jenette Dean, early childhood manager.

Preschool Adventure Saturdays are designed for children ages 18 months to 4 years. Each activity will be educationally and developmentally appropriate, so children will experience the theme of the day in a variety of ways that will be exciting for them.

This event is included with paid admission ($11.95). The museum will be open until 5 p.m. Saturday.
