Last week, E! Online was reporting that Jerry Seinfeld was vacationing with his family in Greece. Here's hoping he remembered he has a show to do tonight, June 26, in Chattanooga.
Outside of his stand-up work, the comedian is known for his namesake television series, "Seinfeld." The "show about nothing" ran for nine seasons on NBC and became a cultural phenomenon.
These days, Seinfeld most often pops up in the Web series "Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee" on Crackle.com. The show is just what it sounds like: Seinfeld and a famous friend take a drive to get a beverage and share stories along the way (guests have included Louis C.K., Tina Fey, Larry David and Mel Brooks). The production is low-key, the atmosphere relaxed, the conversation stellar.
The Washington Post reports that the show, which debuted its fourth season last week, has logged more than 40 million views and was nominated for an Emmy.
Before Seinfeld turned 60 (in April), the British daily newspaper The Guardian poked a little fun, pointing out that he was approaching the age he used to tell jokes about. ("My folks are moving to Florida. They didn't want to move to Florida, but they're in their 60s, and that's the law.")
His Grecian holiday marked another milestone for Seinfeld -- he took his first selfie. In the snapshot, Seinfeld and his wife, Jessica, look away from the camera as he gives a silly smile. On Instagram, his wife wrote, "Jerry's First Selfie. Ugh. Stop."
