Sewanee Writers Conference fills next 10 days with author presentations

The 27th summer session of the Sewanee Writers Conference is underway at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tenn.

Admission is free to all readings and lectures, which feature faculty and nationally recognized editors, publishers and literary agents. They take place through the end of the month in the Mary Sue Cushman Room of the Bairnwick Women's Center on Mississippi Avenue, one block south of University Avenue.

Offering instruction and criticism to writers of poetry, fiction and plays, the Sewanee Writers Conference is supported by the Walter E. Dakin Memorial Fund, established through the estate of the late Tennessee Williams.

The conference opened earlier this week with a reading by poet A.E. Stallings. Among those still to come are former U.S. poet laureate Robert Hass.

Authors' books are available at the University Book & Supply Store.
