Emily’s Power for a Cure is the community partner for Fairytale Nights. The foundation was started in 2006 by Wendy and Jonathan Ransom in memory of their 2-year-old daughter, Emily, who died after a heroic four-month battle with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a deadly pediatric cancer. The goal of the foundation is to raise awareness and funds to find a cure for neuroblastoma, while helping with the immediate needs of children and their families fighting the disease. There's a magical gate at the entrance to Rock City's third annual Fairytale Nights where girls become princesses and boys train to be knights.

It's at these castle gates where royal guests are announced in opening ceremonies each evening before they begin their journey along the Enchanted Trail. In this live fairy tale, Beauty meets Beast, fairy godmothers grant wishes and a storybook ending is guaranteed.

Beauty and the Beast are new characters this year, along with Hansel and Gretel. They'll join a cast of returning favorites, including Cinderella, Snow White, Prince Charming, Little Red Riding Hood and Merlin. Queen Guinevere will crown the young knights who complete the training academy.

During their time in this land of enchantment, children can meet live falcons at an interactive exhibit near the Stone Forge Tavern, talk with a live troll named Ik, try dragon wing stew at the Beast's Castle and enjoy stories and other activities such as decorating a crown or playing with Jack when he ventures off the beanstalk into the Giant's lair.

Reservations also are available for an Enchanted Tea with Alice and the White Rabbit at 4:30 p.m. Sunday or Monday, April 10-11 (two earlier dates are already sold out). Cinderella, the Fairy Godmother, Snow White and other beloved characters are also attending the party. The three-course menu features crumpets, sandwiches, fresh fruit and desserts. Tickets include a souvenir photo and gift.
