The first Salsa on the Southside dance party will be held Friday, Aug. 4, at Revelry Room, 41 Station St.

Bring your friends, learn some basic steps, then dance the night away to your favorite Latin music played by DJ Mike Arana.

A complimentary dance lesson will be taught at 8:30 p.m. by local dance instructor and founder of G2G Salsa, Jesse Ramos, before the dance party begins at 9 p.m.

Ramos has been hosting dance socials on the first Friday of every month at his studio on Lee Highway, but decided it was time to bring the party downtown with the intention of reaching more people and making it more centrally located.

Ramos says this event is for people who are passionate about dancing or who feel adventurous and want to learn some new dance moves. For this kickoff, Huntsville, Ala.-based dance crew Clave y Tumbao Bamacitas will be on hand to perform some of its world-class routines.

Admission is $10 and drinks will be sold.

The salsa party is hosted by XCeed Events and G2G Salsa.

Founded in 2015, XCeed Events is the solo venture of Puerto Rican drummer and electrical engineer, Xavier Cotto. XCeed works to provide opportunities for the Latino arts in Chattanooga.

G2G Salsa is a Los Angeles-style dance school founded by Jesse Ramos in Destin, Fla., recently relocated to Chattanooga. Its mission is to promote and expand Latin influence and the local Latin dance scene.

Tickets may be purchased at www.Revelry Room.co.
