Dennis Haskins continues to be a big man on campus. Best known for his role as Mr. Belding on "Saved by the Bell," Haskins was recently named to the University of Tennessee Alumnus Magazine's 100 Distinguished Alumni list.

Haskins attended UT-Knoxville for a bit before transferring to UTC, which is where he caught the acting bug. He left school a few hours shy of graduating to pursue acting but was given his degree in 2015.

Haskins remained loyal to the Mocs over the years. When "SBTB" ended, the final episode had Mr. Belding leaving Bayside High to become dean of students of UTC. In 2000, the school presented him with a Distinguished Alumnus Award, and last year he donated his scripts from the show to a permanent exhibit in the new UTC library.

Several other Chattanoogans made the UT Alumnus Top 100 list, including John Thornton, Tom Griscom, Dorothy Hackett Ward, Bob Corker and Irvine Grote.

My name was somehow left off.

* WGOW-FM 102.3 afternoon host Brian Joyce will be adding a new shift to his workday, and he'll be taking his show on the road, kind of.

Joyce will continue to do his 1-3 p.m. show on 102.3, but he will then do a weekday show from 3 to 6 p.m. on WYAY-FM 106.7 in Atlanta. Acting program director Bill Lockhart says Joyce will do both shows from Chattanooga, at least for most of the week.

"At 3 o'clock, he will walk back to a little studio in the back we used to use for traffic. It's a small room with all of the 21st-century equipment, and he'll do the show from there. He will have someone here who will be monitoring breaking news and things like that in Atlanta."

Lockhart says Joyce may go to Atlanta on Friday each week. In that case, he will do his show for here from there.

Also, Jerry Harvey, co-host of the "Nth Degree" along with Jim Reynolds, hosted his last show at the station on Wednesday. The show airs weekday mornings from 9 to 10 a.m.

Lockhart says Harvey got the chance of a lifetime and is going on tour with the Southern Momma an Em tour. They recently did a sold-out show at The Comedy Catch. One of the featured performers on the tour opted out, and Harvey auditioned a few weeks ago and got the call.

"It was more extensive and serious than he first thought," Lockhart says, "so he will be traveling all over the country and will be gone from Wednesday through Sunday. We wish him lots of luck, and we will be evaluating what happens with that hour, so stay tuned."
