Dr. Jill Shelton, an assistant professor in the psychology department and director of the Cognitive Aging, Learning and Memory Lab at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, will lead the next Chatt About Science session on "How To Use the Environment To Improve Your Memory."

Organizers of this informal discussion, set for 7-8 p.m. today, Jan. 12, at Stone Cup Cafe, 208 Frazier Ave., say the science of memory has led to fascinating discoveries about how memories are created, stored and retrieved.

Research has revealed that memories often contain rich details about the context in which the memory was formed, such as sights, sounds, odors and even emotion.

Understanding these cues can play roles in recalling past experiences and remembering to complete future plans.

Admission is free.
