Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park will present a 90-minute Winter Vistas walk at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 21, that focuses on "Horseshoe Ridge - The Confederate Perspective."

The 2-mile walking tour will take advantage of the lack of foliage to show how the terrain played into decisions that prevented Confederate troops from capturing Horseshoe Ridge during the Battle of Chickamauga on Sept. 20, 1863.

Participants will meet at the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center, 3370 LaFayette Road, then caravan to Snodgrass Cabin (Tour Stop 8) to walk to various points along the ridge.

Participants should bring water, wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.
