I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream - especially on a hot summer day.

So this Sunday, June 25, indulge the need to cool off with a sweet treat when Chattanooga Market holds its annual Ice Cream Social.

For a $6 ticket, market visitors may sample ice cream flavors from six of the area's best creameries: Milk & Honey, Mayfield Dairy, The Ice Cream Show, Clumpies Ice Cream Co., Cold Stone Creamery and Baskin-Robbins.

All proceeds will benefit the Chambliss Center for Children, which serves children and families through residential care, transitional living and child care at its Gillespie Road site as well as five off-site early childhood education centers it manages.

After sampling the six choices, market visitors can vote for their favorites. Two People's Choice Awards will be presented: one for best pure flavor and one for best ice cream with add-ins. Milk & Honey won both awards last year and is back to defend its title.

Marketgoers can shop more than 100 vendors for fresh produce, cut flowers, meats, cheeses and handmade crafts. The Pea Pickin' Hearts will start playing at 12:30 p.m. Sunday and the popular Ryan Oyer Band takes the EPB Stage at 2 p.m.
