The Lions Club of Signal Mountain will serve up barbecue pork and lots of fun at the club's annual Fourth of July barbecue in Althaus Park behind Signal Mountain Golf and Country Club on Tuesday, July 4.

President Gary Lowder says the Lions will smoke 1,000 pounds of pork in preparation to feed about 700 patrons between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Barbecue may be purchased by the plate or in bulk. A plate, which includes sandwich, beans, slaw and chips, is $10; bulk pork is $12 a pound. Hot dogs and funnel cakes are $3 each, drinks will be $1.

Lowder says the Lions have held this barbecue more than 40 years "and every cent raised goes into charities the Lions support."

During the afternoon there will be a bounce house, face painting and balloon artist to entertain children and music to entertain their parents.

Signal Mountain's fun on the Fourth will close with the annual fireworks show, expected to start about 9:40 p.m. at Signal Mountain Middle-High School's soccer complex.
