Take a backcountry paddle trip through Little River Canyon

Paddle trips in the backcountry portion of Little River Canyon National Preserve, 4322 Little River Trail NE in Fort Payne, Ala., will be offered several days this month, weather and water levels permitting.

Led by ranger Larry Beane, this popular series is tentatively scheduled March 4, 6, 8, 9, 14, 22, 24, 25 and 26 on a section of Little River that has easy paddling with level one and two rapids.

Paddlers will need to bring their own kayak/canoe, paddle, life preservers, food, water, hat and sunscreen, plus dry suit, wetsuit, splash jacket and warm change of clothes.

For those without equipment, the park has six kayaks, paddles and life jackets available for public use by reservation.

The park will provide free shuttle service.
