Is it just us, or is there an absurd amount of music being released this summer?

This summer seems to be the time to release new music in 2017. Whether artists are intentionally providing their fans with new tunes for their road trips and vacations, or if it just so happens that their albums are coincidentally ready to be released, an overabundance of brand-new music is being offered for our summer listening pleasure. We are seeing major releases from bands like Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, while also receiving new music from bands we haven't heard from in a while, such as Grizzly Bear and Fleet Foxes.

Chattanooga artists are right there in the mix, releasing new music that is taking over the Scenic City. Three artists with Chattanooga ties will be debuting brand-new music with local performances in the month of July, all at Barking Legs Theater.

Kicking off the trio of concerts Saturday, July 8, Nashville-based singer-songwriter Angel Snow will take the stage in celebration of her new album "Magnetic," released in early May. This will be the first performance in Chattanooga for the Chickamauga, Georgia, native since the release. On "Magnetic," she explores new sounds, adding an electronic touch to some songs, but doesn't steer far from the solid songwriting and angelic voice that have shone a light on her career so far.

Next, on Wednesday, July 12, the Ben Friberg Trio will bring their sophisticated brand of jazz back to Barking Legs. Their new album "Invisible Boundary" finds the Chattanooga trio interpreting an array of jazz classics. Strictly instrumental with electric guitar, bass and percussion, their style bounces from being intricate to complicated, while always blending back into cohesive perfection, making this collection of songs their own.

And last, Chattanooga-based folk singer-songwriter Nathan Bell will celebrate his CD release show with fans on Saturday, July 15 at Barking Legs. The veteran folk artist uses his newest album, "LOVE>FEAR (48 Hours in Traitorland)," released June 30, to urge acceptance, and takes a soulful and gritty stand against the discrimination and prejudice that still surrounds us.
