Hoops are perfect earrings for the season. Also, opt for darker-tone silver with different metal textures and gold accents; oversized chains; chokers; and doubled-necklaces - versatile pieces to change up depending on the outfit. Different metal textures play with light to create focal points in an outfit.

"Moving into the fall, the color palette traditionally starts shifting to darker colors and tones, but this allows for bolder shirt and tie options. It is best done by combining a solid suit as a base, with a bolder pattern and color choice to liven up the overall outfit. You can't go wrong when using black, navy or gray as your main base."

MEET THE EXPERTS

Owner/buyer, MILK

Years before launching my women's fashion boutique, I worked at my grandmother's dry cleaners. She taught me what to look for in quality fabrics and how to properly care for them. My grandmother strongly believed that, in fashion, less is more and to always value quality over quantity. I still rely on what she taught me today as I go on buying trips to Atlanta, Chicago and New York to seek out the best styles.

I'm excited to reveal my shop's rebrand in this fashion issue of Chatter and show women some of the sophisticated looks they can find at MILK.

Proprietor, Refinery

It has been a dream of mine for nearly a decade to open a shop catering to men looking to enhance and express their personal style. Refinery began as a holiday pop-up three years ago during MainX24 at Merchants on Main, and soon afterward we added a second location at the historic Chattanooga Choo-Choo in a refurbished train car.

Now, with our St. Elmo expansion and our clients' enthusiastic embrace, Refinery is becoming closer to my vision of a distinctive shopping experience for men. Sourcing for our collection of apparel, goods and gifts is inspired from our international travels while rooted in a passion for all things Southern.

Owner, Embellish

I am a graduate of the University of Alabama with a bachelor's degree in Corporate Finance and Investment Management. After a career in banking and outside sales, I retired to be a stay-at-home mom for several years, but I had hopes of owning my own business one day. I became a consultant with Carlisle, and after working with them for 23 years, I sold my agency last year.

I opened Embellish in 2005 and purchased Willa Collection in 2015. This past October, I merged the two stores into one location at Warehouse Row.

Nothing excites me more than a satisfied client. I understand when someone has difficulty finding the right look and developing their own style. I love helping women look and feel their very best!

Manager/Buyer, Abby Lane Boutique

I graduated from Auburn University with a Fashion Merchandising degree. I have over 10 years of retail experience. After graduating, I interned and worked for Anthropologie in Atlanta. I moved back home to Chattanooga and started working at Merch Northshore, which has rebranded as Abby Lane Boutique.

I just love dressing people and making them feel beautiful in the clothes they are wearing. There is nothing better than helping a customer find that perfect outfit!

Marketing director/buyer, Fischer Evans Jewelers

I am originally from Venezuela, but have lived in the States for the past 12 years. I found a home in Chattanooga after leaving Miami a little over two years ago. My background is in fine jewelry and watches, working previously in the wholesale and marketing segments for European designers. As a third-generation jeweler who has a passion for high design, quality and creativity, I am in constant search for new collections and trends to bring to our Scenic City, while keeping an eye on jewelry classics. Together with my husband, Clarke Glover (MBA/Graduate Gemologist), we have envisioned a novel merchandising concept at Fischer Evans Jewelers, providing our customers with a different local shopping experience in the fine jewelry and diamond industries. Nourishing our relationships with our customers as a trusted local source for fine goods is a priority. Seeing clients–old and new–continuously choose us to be part of their lives' special moments is the most rewarding feeling. We strive to create an environment where Chattanoogans can be confident they're in good hands and feel welcome any time.
