Kids on the Block volunteers ready to wrap

Starting Thursday, volunteers will be busy with paper, scissors, tape and bows, manning Chattanooga Kids on the Block's gift-wrap stations at Hamilton Place.

The popular fundraising event, held for the last 27 years, will again feature the winning design of the Chattanooga Times Free Press Gift Wrap Design Contest, which was open to children in grades 1-5.

The judges' favorite wrap this year was designed by Natalie Jump, 11, of Rabun Gap, Ga. Her artwork featured a red background with white snowflakes, yellow stars, green trees and blue swirls with hints of glitter.

A limited amount of Natalie's design will be available as a wrapping choice beginning at 10 a.m. on opening day, along with other selections. Wrappers will man the booths through Christmas Eve.

To serve patrons more efficiently, two booths are open: one on the lower level near JCPenney and one on the upper level near the Tourist Information Booth. Both are open daily during the mall's expanded holiday hours.

Area businesses and corporations can have employee gifts wrapped by calling 757-5259. For more information, visit www.kidsontheblock.net.
