The Association for Visual Arts has issued a call to artists and others with a creative flair to participate in UnMasked, a fundraising event for Faces: The National Craniofacial Association. The not-for-profit organization serves children and adults who have severe craniofacial anomalies.
A mask will be provided to participants as the starting point for each work. Finished works may be composed of only the mask, or the mask may be embedded in a larger piece of work. Unpainted, papier mache masks will be available for pickup at AVA between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. today, Saturday and Wednesday-July 30.
Masks will hang in AVA's Main Gallery Aug. 12-24 before being transferred to the event venue on Aug. 25. Masks will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to Faces.
Finished works and artist bio sheets are to be submitted to AVA on Aug. 10-11.
