Tennessee Valley Theatre in Spring City spells its next musical H-I-L-A-R-I-O-U-S.

"The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee," a Tony Award winner, will be presented over two weekends, starting tonight. Described as jubilant and touching, the musical comedy pits quirky prepubescent overachievers against each other in the spelling challenge of a lifetime. These unlikely heroes are a quirky but charming cast of characters for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.

Through infectious songs such as "My Friend, the Dictionary," "Woe Is Me" and "I Speak Six Languages," the nerdy, wordy contestants learn that winning isn't everything.

Bernie Belisle is directing.

The show will be presented Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through June 26. Dinner will precede the two Saturday productions for an additional $10.

Reservations may be made by phone or online, with payment at the door.
