Lee University Theatre has opened its spring season with the poignant and probing "Eleemosynary."

Written by Lee Blessing, the play has been described by Variety magazine as "an intriguing journey through the psyches of three exceptional women." They are eccentric 75-year-old Dorothea; her jaded middle-aged daughter, Artie; and Artie's bright 16-year-old daughter, Echo.

Blessing presents fragmented vignettes of the lives of the three women as they struggle to define themselves both as individuals and as part of a family unit. In this mature study of familial relationships, the playwright highlights the human need for connection and forgiveness. This play is recommended for ages 12 and up.

Featured in the cast are students Chelsea Pearce as Dorothea, Mary Shelton as Artie and Katie Logan as Echo. The director is Christine Williams, assistant professor of theater.

The box office is open 3-6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and one hour before each performance time.
