Families can get another whack at Smash Art on Saturday at Creative Discovery Museum.

In this tinkering workshop, children and adults will explore the importance of intertwining technology and art, such as repurposing computer keys and hairdryer parts into something new.

The two-hour session, scheduled 1-3 p.m., is held in partnership with the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga Fine Arts Department.

One art student and one engineering student from UTC will guide participants with step-by-step directions on how to transform electronics into cool, repurposed objects or art. This science and art collaborative workshop is designed to show how the two fields can be combined to create a great final product such as a television screen that is transformed into an Etch A Sketch.

The workshop is included with paid admission to the museum. Reservations are not required. Materials will be provided.
