Artist Jack Denton, a 40-year art teacher who retired this spring as chairman of the McCallie School art department, has installed his newest sculpture, "Villa Aviana," which means "house of birds," at Rock City Gardens, 1400 Patten Road. Denton said the concept for the work is based on "the idea of what the iconic See Rock City birdhouse might look like if the birds made their own house from native plants." His is the sixth piece of art installed at the Lookout Mountain attraction since 2009. Others are by John Henry, Roger Halligan, Isaac Duncan, John McLeod and Michael Brandt.
