The Bryan College Hilltop Players will open their spring semester Friday, Jan. 25, with "The Spitfire Grill," a musical exploration of redemption and renewal in a small rural town.

Director Bernie Belisle said this latest offering in a season of encore productions "is my favorite show of all time. It has a heartfelt message that really speaks to people."

Based on a movie by the same name, "The Spitfire Grill" tells the story of Percy, a young woman recently released from prison, who decides to start a new life in a rural Wisconsin town. Her arrival "precipitates a journey within the town itself, toward its own tenuous reawakening," said Belisle.

Cast members include Robbie Alderman as Sheriff Joe Sutter; Emilie Belisle as Percy; Brian Huff as Caleb, nephew to Hannah, played by Stefanie Linderman, and husband of Shelby, played by Wendy Krauss. Emily Moon portrays Effy the postmistress and town busybody; and Jay Carpenter is The Visitor, a mysterious figure who never speaks. The play is based on a book and music by James Valcq, with lyrics and book by Fred Alley.

The production will be accompanied by dessert at most shows and with dinner on Feb. 1.

Tickets are available at the Rudd Auditorium box office and Lions Pride Campus Store.
