Shakerag Workshops, a series of arts workshops for adults, is celebrating its 10th anniversary this month.
Held at St. Andrew's-Sewanee School, there are 16 classes in a variety of media offered in two sessions, June 9-15 and June 16-22. Some 150 participants are coming from all over the country to participate.
In addition to workshops, two guests will offer programs in the Shakerag Lecture Series. These free Wednesday sessions are held at 7:30 p.m. CDT in McCrory Hall at St. Andrew's-Sewanee School, 290 Quintard Road, Sewanee, Tenn.
Lectures are followed by a reception in the St. Andrew's-Sewanee Gallery. The 2013 lecturers are David Haskell and Susan Knowles.

LECTURE SCHEDULE
June 12: David Haskell, professor of biology at the University of the South, will speak on his book, "The Forest Unseen: A Year's Watch in Nature." The work was described by E.O. Wilson as "a new genre of nature writing, located between science and poetry." A profile in The New York Times says Haskell "thinks like a biologist, writes like a poet and gives the natural world the kind of open-minded attention one expects from a Zen monk rather than a hypothesis-driven scientist."
June 19: Susan W. Knowles is an independent curator and art historian in Nashville. She holds a post-doctoral fellowship at the Center for Historic Preservation at Middle Tennessee State University. She did her Ph.D. dissertation on Tennessee marble in civic architecture. She has worked in the museum field for more than 20 years.
