Civil War art show opens in Fort Oglethorpe - Sept. 5-Oct. 26

An art exhibition set to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Chickamauga has opened at the 6th Cavalry Museum in Fort Oglethorpe.

On view through Saturday, Oct. 26, "Lives and Lands of the Civil War" depicts images of war-era people, architecture and landscapes by 19 artists from Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Tennessee.

Media include oil, watercolor, pastel, acrylic, bronze sculpture, photography and needlework. All are available for purchase.

An artists reception and open house will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, in the second-floor community room of the museum, 6 Barnhardt Circle.
