The curtain will rise on the first major stage production at the Mars Theater in LaFayette, Ga., the next two weekends when Back Alley Productions presents Phillip King's classic British comedy "See How They Run."

The farce derives its humor from the mistaken identities that ensue when four men, who for various reasons are wearing clergy suits, make their entrances and exits in a home shared by a free-spirited American woman and her strict vicar husband. Adding to the chaos are a Communist spy on the run, a cockney maid who has seen too many American movies and an old maid who drinks alcohol for the first time in her life.

"The play is set right after World War II when nations were very distrusting of each other," director Kaylee Smith says in a news release. "But it takes the clash of different cultures -- American, British, Russian -- and pokes fun at how often we misunderstand each other. It's one of the funniest plays I've seen and directed and something I think everyone will enjoy."

The cast comes from throughout Walker County, as well as Ringgold, Dalton and Tunnel Hill in Georgia, and Chattanooga and Hixson in Tennessee.
