Forbidden City open Christmas Day

Forbidden City welcomes guests to take a break from their holiday celebrations and grab a bite to eat on Christmas Day.

"We are open Christmas Day for our regular hours, but will have a dinner buffet all day with oysters and other seafood and dinner sushi for $9.99," says owner Jason Lin. "It is a fun day and a lot of families come in."

The restaurant features all guests' favorites. From traditional Asian buffet items such as coconut shrimp and teriyaki chicken to a variety of international recipes like Thai noodles and American favorites such as salmon and rib-eye steaks, Forbidden City has it all.

The sushi bar, in addition, offers hundreds more items to choose from, but guests can also create their own dishes at the hibachi grill.

Lin says many diners don't realize that when they pay for their meal it includes not only the main buffet full of salads, entrées and desserts, but also the hibachi grill and the main sushi bar.

Whether they want fried rice with cabbage and beef or noodles with chicken, egg, carrots and onions, the hibachi chef cooks guests' selections to order in one of the restaurant's many popular hibachi sauces. At the sushi station, experienced chefs work to create popular rolls such as the California and spicy tuna rolls as well as traditional nigiri sushi, with raw salmon, tuna and white fish among the numerous choices.

"We have gift cards available for last-minute gifts," Lin reminds procrastinating shoppers. "After Christmas, they can eat and then go shopping at the mall to use their gift cards."

Forbidden City will also be open for New Year's Day and Lin encourages guests to remember that the popular restaurant can host large groups all year long. There is plenty of room for an entire office of co-workers to meet at the restaurant, hold a meeting or presentation and then dig into their favorite recipes from the buffet.

No matter the day - or the year - Forbidden City offers guests a chance to save money while enjoying their favorite drinks at the full bar. Happy hour is hosted between 2-4 p.m. every day. During that time, diners can enjoy well drinks two for the price of one as well as their choice of domestic beer for $2 and house wine for $5.

"People who eat here really enjoy it and say we are a great restaurant," Lin says. "We hope everyone has a great Christmas and New Year!"
