Brewhaus German-American BrewPub is introducing beer-tasting nights when guests can enjoy new creative brews from specialty breweries along with the restaurant's German-American cuisine.

"We have a great selection of tap beers we are constantly rotating," says Lauren Tyree, manager. "As soon as a keg runs out we will rotate to a different beer. We do host beer tastings, usually once a month on a Thursday, which we announce on Facebook."

The next beer tasting is July 12 and Brewhaus has invited North Coast Beer. Another tasting July 19 will feature Moerlein. For the tastings, Brewhaus selects one brewery, which comes to the North Shore restaurant with free samples of the company's beer. Brewhaus also adds a few of the featured brewery's beers on tap for guests to buy throughout the evening.

"We have a lot of new breweries that haven't been in Chattanooga at all," Tyree says. "We're just trying to get people to step out of the box and try new things. We offer half liter and liter beers at a great price."

This summer, beer is only one reason to visit Brewhaus. The restaurant is well-known for its German- inspired recipes with an American twist, including a variety of creative bratwursts and schnitzels.

Schnitzels are servings of thin pork tenderloin lightly breaded and fried before being topped with a variety of ingredients. The most popular schnitzel entrée is the King Ludwig, a hot pork schnitzel sandwich topped with kraut, Swiss cheese and bacon served on a bed of lettuce with brown mustard and apple butter.

"We are adding a couple of new summer items that people should look for," Tyree says. "They'll be some lighter American fare with a German twist that will be perfect for the heat." The new favorites will include the Barenjager honey chicken sandwich prepared with Barenjager and grilled honey marinated chicken topped with Swiss cheese and bacon. The new grilled salmon is a light and refreshing 7-ounce salmon filet seasoned and grilled on an open flame.

A grilled shrimp hoagie is also joining the menu along with some new bratwurst toppings such as sour cream, hot sauce, blue cheese and mushrooms.

The Jager Schnitzel Wiener Art

The restaurant's new brat combos will include a curry brat topped with fries, a buffalo brat with blue cheese along with a specialty BLT brat.

"Come out and get a beer, try a brat, sit out on the patio and check out the view," Tyree says. "We have a fantastic back patio looking over the park and river. This is going to be a great place for diners to see the fireworks for the Fourth of July."
