Unless the topic cuts a little too close for comfort, even cats and dogs might be amused by how Wally's Friends will celebrate National Spay Day -- with a Spay-ghetti No Meatballs dinner and silent auction.
The humorous title belies the serious nature of the evening: raising funds to help stop pet overpopulation.
Wally's Friends is a standalone clinic devoted to high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services for dogs and cats. A first-of-its-kind facility in the Chattanooga area, it serves all of Hamilton County as well as surrounding rural counties, including Georgia and Alabama.
The Spay-ghetti No Meatballs dinner is set for 6-9 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 25, at Stratton Hall, 3146 Broad St. Miguel Morales, owner/operator of 1885 Southern Coastal Grill, will provide the meal, which includes wine, beer, a coffee bar and dessert.
Tickets are $50 and advance purchase is required. They are available online at www.wallysfriends.com and at the following locations: Alder & Cox, 2110 Northpoint Blvd., Hixson; The Ark, 1100 Dayton Ave. and 7760 East Brainerd Road; Bone Appetit, 103 Frazier Ave.; Cat Clinic of Chattanooga, 310 Cherokee Blvd; Pet Care Warehouse, 2105 Northpoint Blvd.; and the Wally's Friends Clinic, 155 Unaka St., Red Bank.
