'Dear Mr. Watterson' a tribute to 'Calvin and Hobbes' creator - Nov. 17

Screening of the film at Barking Legs

Recognize these guys? They are, of course, the title characters of "Calvin and Hobbes," a comic strip from the 1980s and '90s that followed the adventures of an imaginative 6-year-old boy (Calvin) and his energetic stuffed tiger (Hobbes). Chattanooga film club Mise En Scenesters will present a documentary, "Dear Mr. Watterson," that examines the popularity and enduring impact of the strip from creator Bill Watterson. The screening starts at 8 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 17, at Barking Legs Theater, 1307 Dodds Ave. Says MES founder and programmer Chris Dortch, "We've screened several documentaries in three years of doing this, and this is one of the more heartfelt, touching films I can remember." Tickets are $7. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the MES online store, https://squareup.com/market/mise-en-scenesters/dear-mr-watterson-pre-sale-ticket.
