Dallas Brass offers fanfare in Cleveland

An internationally acclaimed music ensemble will close out the Cleveland-Bradley Concert Association season. Dallas Brass, known for dynamic, stirring performances, will take the stage Thursday at First Baptist Church in Cleveland, Tenn.

The concert also will feature the Walker Valley High School Band. Dallas Brass typically incorporates high school bands into its shows, a commitment to the musical development of youth.

Founded in 1983 by Michael Levine, Dallas Brass is composed of five brass players and a percussionist. The ensemble has appeared with numerous orchestras nationwide, including the New York Pops, and on countless stages, such as Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

Although admission is normally by season membership, individual tickets will be sold at the door for this final concert. Cost is $20 for adults, $10 for students. Tickets also may be purchased from any Walker Valley band member, all at the student price.

Specialty coffees from the church's Go Cafe will be available for purchase starting at 6 p.m. and during intermission.

Those attending also will be able to buy memberships for the 2011-2012 season at a 10 percent discount. Performances begin Sept. 27 with the patriotic musical "American Spirit," followed by The American Tenors, The Water Coolers (singing comedians) and the Shangri-La Acrobats.
