A battle of the bands Saturday in Ringgold, Ga., will conclude with a benefit concert by seven-time Dove Award winner Phil Keaggy.
Also appearing will be Last Flight Out and a special guest to be announced.
Keaggy has released more than 50 albums in his 30-year career, including eight with his band, Glass Harp. Twice nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Gospel Album, he is regularly listed as one of the world's Top 3 fingerstyle and fingerpicking guitarists in Guitar Player Magazine reader polls.
The daylong contest, The Battle for Christ, is one in a series of competitions among bands that perform contemporary Christian and Christian rock music. It is presented by Legacy Productions.
Saturday's competition will feature eight artists, including the Jon Mullins Band from Chattanooga, Kyle Veazey from Chickamauga, Ga., and Day Seven and Sean Blackley & The Glorious Sound, both from Calhoun, Ga.
Semifinal and final rounds for contemporary Christian contendors will take place June 3-4 during J-Fest at Camp Jordan in East Ridge. Christian rock acts will compete in Knoxville.
Winners will continue to the Ascenxion Scout competition at the Ichthus Festival in Willmore, Ky. The overall winner will open for the headliner at the Three Rivers Festival in Fort Wayne, Ind., on July 16.
All proceeds from the Keaggy concert benefit the Children's Advocacy Center of the Lookout Mountain Judicial Circuit.
Tickets are $10 for the entire day, $35 for VIP seating and an autograph signing with Keaggy before his show.
