Proceeds from this Sunday's annual Tommy Jett Entertainers Reunion will go toward helping those impacted by the recent tornadoes in our area, according to Jett.
The event will be held at the Bourbon Street Music Lounge in the Extenda-Stay Motel (formerly the Ramada Inn) on East 23rd Street.
Eugene Coleman, pastor of the Carpenter's Cowboy Church and chaplain of the Tommy Jett Entertainers Reunion, will give the annual prayer of blessing for the entertainers.
Begun in 1993 by the longtime Chattanooga radio personality, the reunion features a private gathering for local media personalities and entertainers from 1 to 3 p.m. That will be followed by live performances by many of those same guests. Highlighting Sunday's showcase will be Danny Shirley of Confederate Railroad.
Among the acts set to perform are the Carpenter's Cowboy Church Band, Paul Smith and the Bourbon Street Band, Jimmy Harris, Jimmy Tawater, Matt Cordell, Walt Marler karaoke singers, The Stallion Band, Skin Deep and The Funky Wunky Band.
"We do this every year to get all of the entertainers and radio and television personalities together," Jett said. "These are people I've worked with over the years, and it's a good way to see old friends."
Jett, who has been playing music for local listeners since the early '60s, will also be selling copies of his new CD recorded earlier this year called "Tommy Jett From Me to You." Some of the proceeds from the CD sales will also go toward the tornado relief efforts, he said.
