Rock City begins Summer Music weekends

Summer Music Weekends at Rock City aren't just about music, but the New Binkley Brothers will set the tone for this summerlong series with toe-tapping tunes.

Members of this Chattanooga-based ensemble - Daniel Binkley, Matt Downer and Clark Williams - will perform their old-time music from noon to 4 p.m. every Saturday, Sunday and holiday through Labor Day.

Also back for the seventh season are the Rock City Raptors Birds of Prey Shows at 11 a.m., 1 and 3 p.m. each Thursday through Sunday, with additional shows at 4:30 p.m. Saturdays.

The shows, which feature birds flying overhead and through the crowd, are presented by John and Dale Stokes of Save Our American Raptors. The interactive experience, held in the Critter Classroom, features hawks, owls, bald eagles and vultures.

Among other activities are barbecue sold at Lover's Leap and activities for kids that include a rock-climbing wall, panning for gems and Fairyland Forest makeovers.

Rock City is at 1400 Patten Road on Lookout Mountain. Admission is $18.95 for adults, $10.95 for children 3-12. For more information, call 706-820-2531 or visit www.seerockcity.com.
