St. Thaddaeus Episcopal celebrates 50 years with brass concert

St. Thaddaeus' Episcopal Church will mark the 50th anniversary of its 1961 founding with a gala concert Sunday featuring the Jericho Brass. The free concert begins at 3 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

This is the first concert of the 2011-12 season for the Jericho Brass, an all-volunteer brass band founded in 1998.

Sunday, the band will perform original compositions written especially for the celebration by band members Dan Hanson and Dan Bowles.

To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, the concert also will include several patriotic selections.

"The band is especially proud to present some rousing music on this day so special to the membership of St. Thaddaeus and to Americans everywhere," said director Frank Hale.

St. Thaddaeus' is at 4300 Locksley Lane in the Murray Hills community of the Highway 58 area.
